A quick post-op update...

My husband suddenly had become awfully nice towards me. He seems more relaxed and less moody. It could be due to the fact that he is seeing some improvement in my condition.

It has been 18 days since the arthroscopic surgery to my hip, and I still have pain every day, all the time. Not severe pain - but pain never the less...

I was suppose to go to the physio this week, but I just did not have the courage to let anybody touch me at this stage... you know - once bitten...

We went to see the surgeon last week, and he was disappointed when I told him I am worse than before the operation - he was, however, pleasantly surprised to see how well the wounds has healed. He told me to come and see him in a months time, and then I must not be using my crutches - he wants me to walk into his office, and I must start getting back into my old routine and get my life back. It is severely irritating not being able to bend down and do the things I would normally be able to do. I was instructed by him not to flex my hip past 90 degrees and no inward rotation... funny thing that...the position he describes that I must NOT do, is exacly the position the previous surgeon used to injure my hip. What an arshole. I am still so angry at him I will spit in his face if I ever see him again...

When we asked about the surgery, he said that he was unable to secure the torn cartilage to the bone, due to the radial tear, and after an hour of struggling to do so, he decided to cut away the torn piece... now I have a gap of 4 - 5 mm in the cartilage that surrounds the hip socket. The surgeon told us that he is hoping for the tissue to scar closed.

So, in an attempt (and a brave one at that) to get back into my routine, I attended a birthday party yesterday! It was a bit strenuous, and I feared the pain that I expected to come that evening. I enjoyed the event, and met some new people, which does not happen too often... I was surprised at how well my body handled 7 hours of moving about. I must admit, I had to take some painkillers last night and today I have a bit more pain than the day before yesterday, but I think this is something I will probably have to learn to live with...and of course the weather has come in today, and the pain always seems to escalate when it becomes cloudy... maybe I should consider living in the desert...

I am still trying (and mostly succeeding) to consume 10 - 15g of gelatine per day. I have also added Aralia (Spikenard) and Propolis to my tincture regime. Due to the fact that I had a slight allergic reaction the last time a bee stung me, I do not take the propolis by mouth - instead I mix some with my Inflamo Rub and apply it to my hip after I have showered. I have ordered some Propolis Gel from my supplier, it might be easier to apply than the tincture.

My husband suddenly had become awfully nice towards me. He seems more relaxed and less moody. It could be due to the fact that he is seeing some improvement in my condition. He has never been good at handling situations where I am impaired. Or maybe it is due to the fact that his registration for his business has gone through and he can start managing his books properly... I can't really say, but is nice not having to walk on eggs the whole time... I am not really expecting it to last, in fact, I expect to pay dearly for this period of peace... yes, sometimes I am a pessimist, but apparently pessimists are happier people...
