IM interested to hear other peoples experiences with chiropracters both good and bad , ive been suffering with sciatica through disc herniations for some years now , i started goin to chiropracters about 12 months ago , ive probably been to about 4 different practitioners . I had both positive and some negative experiences , theres definant positives in pain relief and in aligning the spine and i know some people that have been near crippled have found that theyve been able to function alot better .
I started noticeing with the first guy i was seeing that i would usually feel good that day or the next day but then my pain would come back again so i was constantly haveing to come in for adjustments , he even told me that my disc bulge would dissappear but this of course could take years , at times i would go in and could feel that he didnt adjust the spine correctly but when i mentioned it at the time he would say something like yeh it adjusted just wasnt much in it today even though i knew it didnt adjust properly etc , the guy was very good at what he did though and recieved plenty of praise from his patients but i wasnt happy with my treatment , like i said i was getting pain relief but only temporary . I decided to try someone else straight away the new guy started talking about leg length which was a new concept to me and after sending me for xrays sure enough my right leg was 13mm shorter with a rotation in the hip aswell , so that everytime i was getting adjusted and feeling ok as soon as i started walking the work the chiropracter was doin would be all for nothing and the pain would return , it was like a vicious circle and was leaving me out of pocket which was hard especailly considering ive been unemployed because of my injury , to put it bluntly i felt like i was being ripped of and exploited and these guys are acting all in the name of good to me it was one big rort ,so upon seeing this new chiropracter i was pleasantly surprised at this new insight into leg lengths and the like and once he instructed me to wear a heel lift i was led to belive most of the problem was solved as long i came in for another 10 adjustmenst that should do it , going twice a week that shouldnt take long , i was still goin there 6 months later and although id improved , i wasnt really getting better and unless i went in regularly which was costing me more than i could afford the pain which runs down my leg from my back and in my heel wasnt far away .Once again it seemed like one big rip off in my case anyway , i belive it works for some not for others and you have to try out what works . What i find with chiros is that where they do the adjustment usually in your spinal region the muscles around those joints tighten up and can enhance sciatica whilst the muscles are tensed etc , so then you need massage .Id like to hear other peoples experiences both good and bad .
