Blog: My 120-day fast on vegan urine/water (later will add green juice)...

Which is better - raw veganism or fasting?

I weigh in on the VITAL question - should you focus on a fast or focus on sustained, committed raw veganism?

You know, it's only day6 (or 7 if you count my day 0), and I hope for my own sake this fast works - but at the moment, I just want to weigh in with this (and I realize that many real fasters stress that things don't start to even happen before day 20, so I'm being spoiled and unhelpful but I sincerely, deeply mean the following):

1. if you are someone who is not entirely at the end of the rope, seriously, severely ill with life-long or chronic concerns or fatal stuff that needs the fastest traetment possible

2. If you are someone who even suspects that in attempting to fast you might end up bingeing (actually, this describes me, but I'm the opposite of number 1 above, so that has not happened so far this time), _especially_ on non-vegan things

3. if you have not tried raw veganism, and are a slaughterhouser or a vegetarian or a vegan who is cooked, not yet having tried for a few months raw veganism, especially with an emphasis on fresh foods)

THEN

I honestly urge you to try raw veganism first, as the chances are high it will give you the results you want. Commit to it, as one can't really ever commit to a fast. Do not put yourself through this if you don't absolutely have to. The world is MUCH MORE SERVED by your committing to raw veganism than your doing a fast, even a long one, and then going back to what youate before, both in terms of the "karma" of your actions, and the glowing testimony of your vibrancy, mood, looks, sanity, and so on. This is very important. We do what we do not just for our own sake, but to save - in reality, improve but a small bit - the world, the suffering, the needless misery and death-in-life and horrible death and abuse, of children and adults, male and female, of all species. And the planet itself, the plants and waters and weather and all. It doesn't do anything to always be starting fasts and in between being "part of the problem", both your own problems and the world's. IF YOU HAVE TO CHOOSE, CHOOSE RAW VEGANISM. Fasting is not a way of life, and from where I'm sittng right now, its benefits aren't worth a single shard of the gradual, profound, permanent practice of committed raw veganism. You realize that 3 weeks from now, I may be talking differently, flying off the walls, trying to get everyone and politicians to fast, but for now, I urge you, if you've been dabbling with health, diets, fasts, cleanses, and really want to change your life and make your future one of being alive and loving and receiving sounds and colors and breezes and smells and happiness and here-ness and sun and rain and purrs and the face you love, choose raw veganism and do it NOW! I don't think there's a substitute or replacement.

I'm only doing this because I will die if I don't get the enfabled fasting results, but from here on the fast journey, I am questioning the fable and offering you this heart-felt advice on consideration of the reality so far. Not only is one doubting the mythos, but I believe that for anyone answering to the above 3 descriptives, it doesn't matter anyway even if fasting is a great thing. It's not a lasting thing, and can't save you or anyone. It can even reinforce what you need to put behind you forever.

Hoping this helps you. Jack
