The master cleanse is used for a number of reasons, mostly to detoxify the digestive system, but also as a means to clear the mind. Many people, myself included, engage in cleansing on an annual or bi-annual basis, some indiviuals even more often. The benefits are numerous. Regularly cleansing helps the body release toxins that come from exposure to food additives, household chemicals, and pollution. Cleansing reduces stress on the digestive system, by supporting the elimination systems and other organs. It is recommended that when doing the master cleanse, you proceed for at least 10 days, but it can be done for up to 40 days if you are so inclined.
Meditation and massage are wonderful enhancements to cleansing. They allow the mind to unite with the body in releasing not only toxins, but bad habits and negative emotions as well. Massage assists in detoxification by stimulating sluggish lymphatic systems and circulation. The same can also be said of skin brushing. Skin brushing unblocks pores and stimulates the work of the lymphatic system. Cleansing can enhance meditation and vice versa. The mind becomes clearer and focus is intensified, allowing for new insights and a deeper connection to your inner-self.
An ancient method of healing and rejuvenation, cleansing enhances health and spiritual development. A cleanse is a sort of internal spring cleaning that not only frees your body of waste, but your mind and soul as well.
