Before embarking on my very first water only fast(3yrs ago)I thoroughly researched fasting. It was this research that convinced me WATER ONLY fasting was by far the superior/most effective fasting method. Now I know of several articles/books I encounterd that talk about WATER ONLY FASTING & mention that it is OK to squeeze a little lemon juice & dilute it along with water not everyday, not for nutrition but for a SPECIFIC reason say as a mucus dissolver cant remember the other.
My first
Water Fast was STRICTLY water for 23 days, another a year later 24 days water only, one this year July water only 21 days water only.So yes I'm a believer in WATER ONLY BUT I also remember from the very research that helped me decide that water only is the best choice that YES these very advocates were NOT all or nothing for indeed they wrote when you feel discomfort, low energy,or mucus ITS OKAY to squeeze a little lemon juice in your water. This was not to NOURISH oneself;the aloe leaf juice is not some delicious drink it'll simply soothe/nuetralize the acid like the lemon(natual healing plants im not advocating the use of vitamins that will surly upset fasting) once diluted in water it barely should cause some upset to one fast.In all this we should not forget that
Water Fasting goes beyond the abstaining from food only it inolves othr things a very important aspect of fasting is also SAFETY.
Although I mentioned being on strict long water only fasts I've also done other fasts where when I had the acid I used the aloe diluted in mostly water and it did alkalize the acid my stomach barely growled the way it does say when you drink diluted juice on breaking a fast because the amount was insignificant.I am one of those water only water only people so it wasnt easy to do this and think Ive only done it twice or so but ended up just doing it cause it was for a reason not to nourish myself.Hey if even the authorities allow it then just beating yourself up about not doing it is just really a matter of choice. You can also just not DO IT and stop the fast due to pain and stop the healing or you can do something even the experts allow isnt harmful and continue to heal.
Anyway the long of the short is that I read that it is okay to add lemon to your
Water Fast this is not for nutrition but for alleviation and since safety is important there is no harm in it.Whether you decide to do it or not really is a matter of choice.I have sometimes chosen to live through the pain of fasting and other times when I genuinley feared a negative reaction I have used aloe to alleviate it.I really wouldnt have posted somehing I think detrimental to someones efforts without prior research I also understand where your concerns are coming from am also open to a rebuttal of my argument.
