Actually, all those birth control methods work by preventing ovulation, fertilization OR implantation of the fertilized egg. Not exactly the same as having a fetus surgically removed from your body. Then again, to someone who's extremely anti-abortion, there might not be enough difference to matter, but biologically speaking, that's a big difference. If my husband "pulls out" or wears a condom, that prevents fertilization, is that abortion, too?

The IUD works to prevent the egg from implanting in the uterine lining because its prescence in the uterus thins the mucus lining. The lack of a lining is why many of us have no period, because their is no uterine lining to shed. Therefore it is less likely that sperm would even be able to fertilize an egg to cause conception.
