There is only ONE way out and it is likely the last think you want to do but you asked and I will share it.
You are looking outward. You will never find what you are looking for there. It is like chasing rainbows after a rain. You chase it and chase it but it just moves away from you. Or you catch it BUT that that you thought it would bring only lasted for a moment and dissappears.
Your example: now wanting to be made fun of and to be accepted. How natural we all want that...
In this world - no matter what we are are made fun of. It can't be stopped. BUT this is NOT your issue. Your issue for this NOT to bother you, not to hurt inside...

wow that doesn't sound spiritual... How can we love others if we do not love ourselves? How can we respect others if we do not respect ourself? We will be walked on for life UNSESS we do not allow others to do so. It is your choice - stand up or get walked on.
YOU ARE IN CONTROL - either you stay meek and get walked on of you choose to stand up EACH TIME and say NO I will not allow you to do this to me peroid.
Only in doing so will you build the respect for yourself - and learn to love yourself - then and only then - what other think of you become muted. For you are no longer looking for acceptance in others for your self image...
Facing your fear is the SCARIEST thing to do but surprisingly easy IF you don't sit around thinking about - feeding the fear. No just act quickly trying NOT to over react to the situation that you are in.

Know that we are all connected by a common thread - I can feel more and more are waking up to this and it is exciting indeed!

MoreThis is a reply to # 1,366,218I was talking to my best friend about this very subject today. How do you get people to be nice to you. It seems no matter how I try I seem to be the object of fun and I want to know how to change this.
She told me the same thing. Do you really want to be like the others are. They are hypocrites. I so want people to accept me the way I am. So I was remembering MH and he says that people have to step up to who I am not me step down.
I mean it is easy to say don't let it hurt you when it really does. Do I not bleed, do I not cut easy, well, Observer, new friend of the forum we approve of your writing on this one subject.

I do not seek accept acceptance nor approval and I am curious where you would get such an idea?

Or is it the moreless thing - he who talks the talk and is just a self righeous blow hard. What turn people away from god - or lock the minds of beginning seekers in a sea of lies... Same reason Jesus got so pissed... Claining to be way guides - but doing just the opposite - I have real issues with the church - That happened to me for MANY years and my parents before me.... Sad and yes it angers me.

This is a reply to # 1,366,350Sometimes standing up for one self ends friendships though. But then were they really your friend? I enjoyed your post because it addressed some of my questions I had today but when I applied your principal I lost a friend.
I find most people do not want to be told anything and especially if they are acting wrong. But it comes to a point where we have to realize what is important in our life.
But thru standing our grounds, more enemies are created and those enemies spread hatred thru the neighborhood. So are we really achieving good?

I can see how this can happen. Peer pressure to conform. To be as "they" think you should be or act...
I would say one has to choose their own path - daily... Reaping the reward or pain there of...
Personally I would choose to be true to myself. Now I believe that that is the same as doing what I believe god would have me do... please do not think I am implying anything, simply a mindset...
This may cause you to loose relationships - if this is the case - was it a relationship which was hurting you? - for if it was a helping relationship - there would not have been the issue.
Gossip must be confronted immediately and directly. If you "think" someone is saying this or that - calmly confront then with what you feel. Confrontation can be scary and if one is unacustom to it. Will likely be very emotional. Believe me it is much better to just say to yourself - I have prayed about this - this is the advice I would give a brother or sister... I will do it with out anger. I will let my hurt feelings out. I will allow others to see my pain they have caused me... I will release and be free of it... We are human and I say your emotions are always correct - just sometimes we miscomunicate or misunderstand causing the emotions to flow. Communication it the key. BUT consider your emotional feeling to be your guide so to speak. Intuition is a powerful tool we all have. Intuition, emotion, and inagination...
These are components which I was well progeammed NOT TO EVER USE as a man... Think logical and stand on your own two feet is our way... men are taught.... now it seems that I am unlearning about everything that I was ever taught... ugh!- Re: I would add "acting polite" pret... mo123

I have seen some of your debates and don't agree with them but we are not here to judge you for what we disagree with but to praise you for what we agree with.
