sigh...
Hi, I've been on this forum for a while and I will tell you now that leaving them alone has been done. I have done it and if you go back through the forum others have done it. Ultimately, this could be the cure but how long does it take, I have done it for months and I beleive others have done it much longer to no avail. I peel my lips multiple times a day with a facecloth, though this might not be healthy it is the best way I have found in ten yrs of keeping the unsightly dry skin from building up. I suggest you do the same and don't put yourself through the agony of not peeling with no end in sight. But you can try. What I did once was only not peel my top lip which was much less effected assuming that if it healed then I could not peel the bottom lip. The top lip never healed after months. Some attest to the skin becoming thinner and thinner the longer you leave it alone. I'm not sure if I noticed that but it makes sence if we have more than one problem going on such as immune defficiency of some sort that effects mucous glands only and a type of callus resulting from years of peeling. The callus would probably return to a thinner more normal skin if its left alone and not peeled.
