>>>Anyway on IF #1 I'm assuming Aloes Powder is the same as (Curacao and Cape ALoe Leaf) that is used for the 2 parts written in Dr. Shulze receipe? That is what I used. Is that ok? Then I used 1 part for everything else including cascara sagrada and senna leaves and pods where he says start with 1/2 - is that ok too. I know its already done but I haven't made that big a batch and if others want it I want to know its being done right.<<<
M/R's "aloe powder" is a blend of both leaf & gel - I confirmed that with them (probably heavy on the gel, just like a leaf). The emodin in the leaf is what's effective for colon action SO, we add one part Turkey Rhubarb to make up for the pure aloe 'leaf'...as suggested. Your substitution/addition is also perfect.
>>>On the IF #2 - I will grind the flax seed ? ? ? yes ?
And on the psyllium seeds with husk as Dr. Shulze has written on the receipe thats NOT psyllium seed and then also psyllium husk ? ? ? I bought both from Mountain Rose and am not sure if I just need the psyllium seed.
Does this get ground up?<<<
:::sigh::: (ground or whole flax?) we've ALWAYS ground the flax seeds, because originally that what we remember getting from Schulze (and HFR) - now he sells it with whole flax seeds. I've just updated the Storefront to make it available both ways. I will always prefer the ground flax. I can find absolutely nothing in the literature to indicate which it is/was.
The psyllium seeds/husks: Here's ONE of the printed formulas:
*** 7 parts - Psyllium Seeds with Husks (whole) ***
This doesn't mean to use "whole" (non-ground/powdered) psyllium seeds with husks, it means to grind/powder whole seeds with the husks. A FAR easier solution is to just use 3 1/2 parts of ground/powdered husks and 3 1/2 parts ground/powdered seed. So yes, you grind/powder the seed and you grind/powder the husks.
>>>I've bought most of the herbs in c/s mode and then grind them here as I need them. I'm having trouble grinding some of the roots to a fine powder in the vitamixer. So I'm using the little coffe grinder too but this takes only a small amount and takes a while. What do you use for grinding your herbs?<<<
I buy everything for powdered blends already powdered - EVERYTHING I buy for tinctures, I buy c/s (cut & sifted for those that have never seen "c/s"). I used the VitaMix when I'm out of 'powdered' and do the best I can with it (some herbs good, some not so good). On the 'not so good' I just 'sift' the results through a flour sifter or mesh sieve.
The Nutrimill is likely the best grain mill grinder (will grind grains, nuts, legumes from coarse to fine powder, or so they/testimonials say) - around $270 online (rarely any listed on eBay). I'd guess that'd work just fine for dried root herbs. Someday I'll have enough saved to get one :)
>>>Did you receive my mailing to you for the last 2 orders? I just wanted to make sure you got it. I sent it THAT day.<<<
Yes, yes, YES!! One arrived Friday and the other Saturday (gotta love USPS). 'Sorry I haven't had the chance to email you and you know :(
HUGE BLESSINGS :)
