Also many will tell you that the bran scours the intestinal system of flora and tho it will assit elimination it actually causes dependence because its not fiber that we need for healthy elimination its intestinal flora.
Oat bran is considered a "soft" fiber, not a hard fiber like wheat bran. So it is not hard on the intestines. And the cellulose of the oat bran provides a food sources to feed the flora. The flora ferment the fibers to break down the cellulose, a long chain sugar molecule, in to simpler sugars they can feed on. So we need fibers to keep the flora healthy, and so the flora can generate their beneficial acids. They do not cause a dependence though like anthraquinone stimulant laxatives (senna, cascara sagrada, rhubarb root, cape aloe).
Very interesting, thanks, tho I still feel that we do better with a diet that promotes digestion in the arena that each food item was designed to activate enzymatic action in. Furthermore since so many have intestinal predicaments it would do them better to stick with easily digested choices and hard or soft we all know bran will clump and seemingly assist peristalsis tho that is symptomatic and the better option would be to power up the flora with mono diets of living and simpley digested foods.
I have taken spoonfuls of rice bran numerous times and just threw it in my mouth. It has never clumped up.
As for digestion the flora play a major role in the absorption of nutrients, particularly minerals. In addition the flora produce B vitamins and vitamin K. As I pointed out earlier though the flora need fibers to feed on, which allows them to grow and to produce their beneficial acids.
In addition rice bran provides a lot of vitamins and gamma oryzanol, which helps with hormones and to inhibit cancer. The silica provided by brans benefits bone, cartilage, teeth, tendons, ligaments, hair, arterial walls, skin, etc.
And all brans provide phytates, which have a high affinity for free iron and toxic heavy metals.
In short brans are not bad, they are beneficial. But soft fibers such as rice bran and oat bran are recommended since they do not aggravate inflammatory intestinal conditions.
You crack me up H, I hope your concern is as real as your intensity.
I was interested in the difference between the basic petroleum molecule and the molecules of the super lubricants developed for the Alaska pipeline, one is like a beachball, the other like a golfball, similar, tho not quite the same except in their abilty to be effectivly utillized, when we compare the simple oses molcules with the larger carb molecule groupings.
If all we ever ingested was simple sugar molecules what do you think would happen? We would see a lot more obesity, a lot more diabetes, decreased bone density, increased hormonal issues, higher cholesterol, more heavy metal accumulation, more nutritional deficiencies and a lot of other health issues. About 80% of our immune system comes from the intestinal flora, which use fibers as a food source. The simple sugars we ingest won't even reach most of the flora as they will either be absorbed adding calories or they will be fermented by Candida producing gas and promoting the Candida growth. Because the fibers are not absorbed by the body and they are not digested by the Candida they do not add calories, nor do they promote Candida overgrowth. What they will do is reach the flora intact where they act as a food source for the flora. Fibers also help in the production of bile preventing gallstones, and bind cholesterol and heavy metals. The flora fed by the fibers help increase mineral absorption, produce vitamins, produce cytokines and peroxides activating the immune system, help to keep Candida under control, help to kill or crowd out pathogenic bacteria, detoxify hormone metabolites, etc.
In addition we have other long chain sugar molecules (polysaccharides) such as aribinogalactan and beta glucan, which are strong white blood cell activators.
So yes the difference between simple sugars and polysaccharides is like the difference between a golf ball and a beach ball. But the same can be said about vitamin C and vitamin E. So you think the body only needs either vitamin C or vitamin E and not the other? What about the hormones insulin and DHEA? Again we only need one or the other since one is the "golf ball" and the other is the "beach ball"?
The fact is that we need fibers just as much as we need simple sugars such as glucose.
but i dont know how to use/take OATBRAN every day.. i mean should i cook it with water for few minutes or to take it without cook with water...and how many grams i can take daily .
