The researchers constructed a bacterium's "genetic software" and transplanted it into a host cell.
The resulting microbe then looked and behaved like the species "dictated" by the synthetic DNA.
The advance, published in Science, has been hailed as a scientific landmark, but critics say there are dangers posed by synthetic organisms.
The researchers hope eventually to design bacterial cells that will produce medicines and fuels and even absorb greenhouse gases.

Of course if he can prove that any body can do the exact same thing with the same predictable results, and the results work 100% of the time, then perhaps I might reconsider.
Right now its highly most likely just a big HOAX by a scam artist or scam organization.
Ya there was some significant genetic tinkering in the distant past, it was all done during creation of all life by God and its still around!

This is a reply to # 1,626,426Ever notice that "god" is referred to as plural in the christianity manual? Ever notice that many cave drawings in other cultures depict "alien" type entities and their folklore often has other worldly entities as part of it?
Factor into the loosh info and you get a very interesting picture of your "god." Perhaps christians are nothing more than lab rats kissing up to their alien creator?

Then I assume that its your "god/s" too! First it/they created you and then wrote the book (old testament) which you refer to so so much about. The Christian manual is the New Testament. You also seem to have contemp for the "god/s" of the old testament that created you.

This is a reply to # 1,626,691If "they" indeed created anything they created a conscious circuit container. They are not infinite potential but too play in that infinite field. Just as Monsanto creates franken genetics and calls forth new conscious parameters, so then do these "gods." A god then is just consciousness that creates and calls forth mew aspects of consciousness.
Don;t you find it interesting that the "eve" model was "created" from the rib of the "Adam" model? Sounds like some genetic cloning. ;-) You would think that some infinite consciousness would have a better means unless.....
BTW, nothing really creates any of us as we are all the same thing being filtered through various aspects of the same potential. It's like multiple camera angles of the same connected flowing event.

Perhaps in your view bewnyfur. Maybe today's scientists are just as intelligent as your god? Perhaps the bible idea of god is formed from some very ancient scientist that discovered this same ability, and we've forgotten our beginnings, (this would explain some of the very human traits that the bible god has, or is that 'gods'). Lots of questions to consider.

God has characteristics according to the Bible because that is how humans explain things. The human aspects that you attribute to God are like those of Psuedo-Christians that go to mega-churches. The article is what mentioned intelligent design, I merely was reflecting what the article was stating.

Really?, where is your proof of this? I see a lot of superstition and stories in the bible, which is of course knowledge of a sort, but where is the coded information?
This again is just your belief bewnyfur. I have said before that in order to be recognised in today's world, as a scientist, it is necessary to gain a certain level of education and this education to be acknowledged by your peers. I don't think that it is necessary to have degrees to be a scientist, but it is necessary to have degrees, (today), to be 'recognised' as a scientist. Again you try and spin my words, and again you get it wrong.
