I will answer you according to my own experience and my actual knowledge of candida, multiple chemical sensitivities and leaky gut.
Leaky gut symptoms will disappear 24/26 hours after I ate the substance that I am hypersentive to. Candida get worse when you eat
Sugar but candida symptoms are pretty much always there even if you don't eat sugar.
Candida or die-off related symptoms: balanatis, intertrigo, fungal nail infection, diarrea, anxiety, urinating frequency, lightheadedness, dizziness, genital rash, itchy bum, gain weight, gas, mild and constant anxiety, depression, guilty feeling, fatigue, joint pain.
Leaky gut: Intense nervousness, eyes tearing, sweating, red scrotum syndrom, tingling feeling in the scrotum. These symptoms are always following comsumption of either casein, gluten, yeast, ibuprofen, aspirin or exposure to pants containing formaldehyde. Symptoms appears 15-30 minutes after exposure. None of these symptoms exist without exposure. Leaky gut trigger sensitivity to certain food proteins and also trigger sensitivity to certain type of external allergens like formaldehyde or mold.
Because food proteins directly flow in your bloodstream when you have leaky gut, your immune system become hypereactive. Internal sensitivities to food would worsen general hypereactivity of your immune system. That's why you will also react to certain type of external exposure when you have a leaky gut.
The type of external exposures that would affect you will be correlated to the nature of your past exposures to toxic substances while you had leaky gut. Chances are that if you had candida for several years, your leaky gut made you sensitive to substance that may be similar to candida byproducts. Formaldehyde is one of them. Mold is also part of the group.
You now understand why I believe that my mold/formaldehyde/
food sensitivities have not much to do with yeast infection. After 6 months of several RX antifungals and another 6 months of natural antifungals, I now know that it's all leaky gut related.
