I did Iodoral 150 mg + SSKI 210-300 mg for many months. I've recently worked to reduce this. My fibrocystic breasts are long-time cured, and I wanted to find a sustainable maintenance. I'm fluctuating right now between Iodoral 50-75 mg + SSKI 120 mg. Unsure where I'll land. I love iodine, and have either a high need and/or low absorption of it. Everybody's really different, though.
Yes, the iodide of SSKI is readily taken up by the thyroid. There is iodide also in Iodoral, but I've never felt the same lift from it as from SSKI. I've often called the molecular iodine in Iodoral "dark" and the iodide of SSKI "light." That's how they feel to my body. I took Iodoral by itself early on, and got into a depression funk from detox. SSKI cleared out the sludge of that, and I've partnered the two ever since. I'm pretty sure I tried SSKI by itself as well, but that left me feeling ungrounded and a little too "electrical" along my nerves. I need them both. Terribly unscientific -- strictly what I've observed. My husband and mother take SSKI by itself and do fine. Sigh :)
