Thanks for the replies in the thread earlier.
Your welcome.
My questions now relate to my mum (51 years old). She has had hip bursitis for just over a year, started on the right side and now it's on both sides. I didn't know what it was until the doctors diagnosed it last month.
A year before getting the hip bursitis, some lumbar discs were displaced (slipped discs) which caused her great pain and the muscles in her upper back tighten up with coldness, this also started with the slipped discs.
No physical trauma occured before getting the slipped discs or hip bursitis.
There is no arthritis in the hip joints/pelvis according to X-rays and MRI nor did they detect any slipped discs. The doctors told her to do exercises for 6 weeks and also take Ibuprofen and if this method does not work then they will inject her bursa's with non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) one side at a time.
NSAIDs need to be avoided altogether. They are very dangerous drugs, even the over the counter ones, and they can lead to bone and joint deterioration.
A friend abroad practices chiro and made adjustments to her spine last year for free (bursitis was already starting on one side) when she went on holiday and said she pushed in 4 discs. The pain in my mums lower back reduced by about 80% after adjustment.
She also has mild adrenal fatigue and due to acid reflux (hiatus hernia) I have her on 2x 1000mg Ester Low Acid Vitamin C and the other vitamins/minerals I also take for my AF.
Natural vitamin C sources are much better, but if you are going to use a synthetic C like Ester C you would be better off giving her 500mg 4 times daily. The body cannot utilize 1g at a time.
She has tried magnesium oil to no effect for a month and is still continuing its usage though she hasn't tried epsom salts. The exercises aren't helping either or the Ibuprofen which I've told her to stop taking.
Magensium malate or citrate internally would be a much better choice. The magnesium will also help relax the muscles if it IS NOT taken with calcium. If she also takes a calcium then she cant take the magnesium morning and afternoon and the calcium before bed to help with sleep.
I'm at a loss as to what to do as the pain is getting progressively worse and the doctors are useless.
Do you know what is causing the hip bursitis and the upper back pain HV?
The adrenal fatigue will be part of it for two reasons. One reason is that the adrenal fatigue increases inflammation in the body. It also increases the requirement of vitamin C by the adrenals, which leads to less vitamin C available for the structural proteins such as collagen and elastin. This leads to weakening of the tissues. The weakening makes them more prone to damage and also increases the risk of disc slippage from the lack of connective tissue support and because of the development of micro cracks in the vertebrae.
But vitamin C will not correct this on on its own. Silica is also extremely important both for the production of these structural proteins and inflammation reduction.
Is it because of the slipped discs or tissue inflammation due to AF (which is mild, especially compared to my AF).
If referring to the bursitis this would be in part due to the adrenal fatigue and from the tissue weakness damaging the tissues both of which contribute to the inflammation.
The chiro said that my mums back muscles are tight and its the tight muscles that are pulling the spinal discs out of alignment.
Yes, this is common. But the magnesium can help relax the muscles as well as manual manipulation of the muscles during massage to release the muscles.
