I once read in 2 sittings waiting for a prescription a book on various mental illnesses and fish oil.
I was so impressed I decided to buy it on my next trip there but alas it was gone and I did not have the title and ever since been looking for it unsuccessfully.
However, it took various mental ills like schizophrenia, bipolar, depression, OCD, add/adhd, agoraphobia, dyslexia, anxiety etc and administered high amounts of fish oil to them (I don't recall the amount but believe strongly it was in the 3000-6000 plus range).
After noting a change in symptoms they then did P.E.T. scans on many of these people with the mental illnesses that were given the fish oil in high amounts.
For example, they trained a schizophrenic to push a button whenever he had a hallucination and then were able to pin point on the P.E.T scan an area of activity during this time so they could see what part of the brain was not functioning correctly.
After his symptoms left, they redid the P.E.T. scan and saw that that are of the brain HAD CHANGED and now resembled a normal brain.
We in this country (USA) have about 50 to 70 times to much omega 6 fats to omega three fats. It is supposed to be one to one of each.
the reason this affects us is the brain is mostly made of fat and the wrong fats affect it.
Picture the following..
to represent the neurons or brain cells, picture them as an islands
See the synaptic gap between the neurons as a lake
the neurotransmitters like dopamine, serotonin, nor-epinephrine etc as boats and
the neurotransmitter receptor docks as a docking bay for the boats (neurotransmitters)
Normally the neurotransmitter receptor sites are very flexible and it is easy for the neurotransmitters to get in there and then go on their way to the next neuron in lightening fast nerve speed in nerve impulses.
However, when we eat the wrong fats like so much omega 6 and other bad fats, they lose their flexibility and they harden
this leads to problem and chemical imbalances.
the boat goes though the lake trying to get to the next island and when it gets to the docking bay it cannot wiggle its way in as the docking bay is now not flexible due to all the bad fats we ate.
Said in scientific terms as we did in the picture above, the neurotransmitters (boats) go through the synaptic gap (lake) to the neurotransmitter receptor site (docking bay) sand they cant get it the receptor site to their next step the neuron (island) and this they build up in the synaptic gap (lake) and this creates a chemical imbalance.
It may take some time to reverse this one person said it took 2 years.
1 avoid trans fats, hydrogenated fats, almost all saturated fats, and most unsaturated fats (best one by becoming a vegan).
2 focus on more omega three fats
these are found in fish oil caps or in most seafood.
but some have more than others for example salmon contains 7 times snore than tuna.
The book food your miracle medicine is an excellent book for health is cheaply sold on amazon and also contains a chart of the omega 3 content of a long list of seafood and well worth the money which was about 4 dollars in all including the shipping. Wait I went there and looked and it is online go to the book at link and look inside just above the index it i s there on page 495 to pg 497

focus on deep sea fatty fish like
salmon (wild caught not farm raised canned ok)
mackerel (wild caught not farm raised canned ok)
sardines
herring
anchovies
plants sources are few
raw walnuts (may want to presoak to get rid of enzyme inhibitors and recrisp in a raw food dehydrator (like Excalibur that has a temperature gage set at 105 degrees)
-flax seed oil (store in freezer)
-flax seeds-ground)
-purslane
-chia seeds--this is sold under brand name salba at whole foods and maybe in bulk at larger stores) and is a superfood high in a plethora of nutrients
it has a whopping 2700 mg or so per tbs, It has no taste so mixes well with most foods while also cutting the amount of carbs and calories when used in things like apple juice or mayo or salad dressing it does somewhat gel though)
to make a very tasty vegan chia pudding
mix raw chia seeds with a plant milk,. if a raw foodist use raw almond or other nut milks if a vegan use plant milk in box like soy, almonds, oats, hemp, coconut or rice milk
it will gel stir in assorted fruits, dried fruits and/or nuts
top with attractive fruits like kiwi slices and strawberry or berries. I had this at a potluck sand it was tasty and looked pretty
one needs to be careful as too much chia can make blood pressure too low sometimes.
=Be aware that many nut. seeds and whole grains can how a large amount of omega 6 fats. Victoria Boutrenko's new book raw and beyond has a chart with the omega three versus omega 6 fats of various grains etc.
Try to get this book either on amazon or interlibrary loan as I know my library has it cause they honored my request to get several so if you can get through interlibrary loan, you can copy the gin charts with the omega 3/6 content.
I think quinoa was one of the ok grains..maybe the reviews at Amazon will tell you this??
might find help in the books change your mind change your life or 7 weeks to emotional healing as well
