i have the same problem with the flush- i am so stinking envious of people who can get through it in a couple of hours- i have been doing it only once every three or four days because i usually cannot afford the time it takes to flush- sometimes more than six hours. i posted the question in the ask shelly forum, and she said i should try more salt.
as far as coping is concerned, when you want to eat, drink- my greatest challenge has been preparing food for my family-(damn i'm a good cook) thats hard, because i make something delicious, and i cant eat it- not even a taste test :(
so i make me a nice big glass of lemonade and sip that as i prepare the food...
you wont lose any more weight than is healthy- i lost 20 pounds
on my first 14 day fast, a month ago, but this one (on day 14 now) i have only lost another 5- so tell your roomate you wont disappear
you will be surprized at how much energy you have-- at least i am... i used to do Water Fasts
of a week or more, and those pretty much knocked me flat- i really wasnt doing them right, smoked and everything, so i am sure i was defeating the purpose, but on this fast i have more energy than i usually do when eating- some dizziness occasionally, when i stand up too fast, but otherwise, i feel pretty terrific
