I have done quite long fasts (59 days last summer) and find the Master-Cleanse
to be incredibly supportive nutritionally. However, as a first time faster you will be extra concerned about... well, dropping over from starvation! We are so brainwashed to believe we will do just that if we do not get a full 3 squares per day, every day we draw breath!
Waal, podna, there are a bunch of us on this forum who have swilled lemonade for extended periods (two months certainly qualifies, though I switched to fruit/veg juices at day 48 for extra support--and did great!). I walk every fasting day with the exception of detox crises... I had two pretty tough ones during my two month epic, and the rule is to treat yourself as though you have the flu. Stay in, lie low and fast through! You WILL come back up...
So as far as your work is concerned... first, I would definitely recommend you start with a pre-cleanse diet of fruits and vegetables. This gets your body in a cleansing mode gently, and helps you to avoid many of the tough first week pitfalls, like the good old coffee headache!
For breakfast, have a big bowl of fresh fruit with natural yogurt, whizzed as a smoothie of you like.
For lunch, a big fresh salad, with healthy dressing of good oil like flax or olive, fresh lemon juice, garlic and Sea Salt
For dinner, all the vegetarian vegetable soup you like, same soup you break your fast with. Yummm.
NO breads, pasta, sugar, coffee, sodas... just the above. Plus all the fresh juices you like, fruits in the am, veggies pm. And LOTS of pure water!
Do this for a week before you begin fasting, and you will already have taken care of much of your preliminary detoxing. This will make your first week much much easier!
Then, if you work, practice your colon cleansing ritual over a weekend. Standard procedure is lax tea pm/am, or lax tea pm/swf am. This can be a problem if the tea or swf hits during your commute! Personally, I like to substitute an enema any time I want to have more control over WHEN and WHERE I do my colon cleanse! DO NOT skip the colon cleansing ritual! This is the way we help our bodies take out the trash, which if left inside will definitely cause us trouble!
Read above about detox symptoms, so you are not taken by surprise by flu-like symptoms, headaches, body aches etc., particularly during that first week. Prepare to call in sick if absolutely necessary, but I have definitely felt very strong and good during most of every fast, well able to continue working, moderately exercising... business as usual!
It takes a little practice, but you soon learn the rhythm of your body in a fasting mode and can adjust your schedule to work best for you. Meanwhile, we are all here to support you, and to answer any questions you might have.
Best to you,
