years ago i was reluctantly put on low dosage b.c. pills for my ovary pain, and it really helped, but i only took them for one cycle and then stopped because i don't want them in me!!
evening primrose oil helps, taken regulary (not just when they hurt).
essential fatty acids found in flax oil, hemp oil, and borage oil are helpful. these three oils provide a good combo of omega 3's and 6's.
also, i find that slow cooked foods, such as beans which have simmered a long time until they're creamy in texture, or vegetable stews where the veggies are soft to chew, are very soothing to the ovaries. especially topped with a good quality olive oil before eating. don't cook the oil in, just drizzle it on the warm (not hot) food before eating.
arame seaweed is also good. if you don't want to eat it you can soak it in water and make a sitz bath out of the soak water.
things i have found which really make the pain worse:
stress is #1 for me by far!
overall poor diet
in my case, when the pain was really bad (enough to get me to a doctor which is very rare) i was in a relationship that was not good for me, i had moved to a different city with this guy, and was very isolated, missing my friends and my regular happy life. all i had was my work (which i love), but otherwise i was really unhappy and stressed! when i got out of that relationship and got back to my happy life, the pain was less severe and came less often. i was 26 then, 35 now and it will still get to me when i'm stressed or not taking good care of myself.
hope some of this helps...
p.s. shelley, i really enjoy your forum! you give great advice!
