Yes and no. LOL!
I have met people who via kinesiology determined that their coffee habit was not detrimental to their health. I don't know how they manage that except that it helps that they are Kapha. As a Vata, if I drink half a cup of De-caf I'm still up all night. Lordy!
I've been known to actually prescribe coffee in the case of emergency for its laxative effect. One of the things it tends to stimulate is peristaltic action.
If you drink it black rather than dose it with cream and Sugar
it's not as bad for you. My main beef with coffee IS that it is a stimulant, and the way stimulants work is they tell the body to release a lot more hormones than usual, to burn hotter and faster.
In caffeine's case, it releases adrenaline, from the adrenals, totally stressing them out and causing fight-or-flight reactions throughout the body. These ForF reactions are one of the main reasons we age badly- in the past they weren't so hard on us because we would run for miles to escape saber-toothed tigers. Now we just sit at our computers! so the negative affects aren't balanced with exercise. Sigh.
It also messes with our circadian rhythms, and much of our balance, timing, health, rejuvenation, is determined by circadian rhythms. Without healthy circadian rhythms we don't achieve a level of sleep that is truly healing and repairing, especially those two hours before midnight.
So as an occasional cheat, as part of your 20%, a bit of coffee spiced with nutmeg isn't a terrible thing, but as a daily activity is an aging thing with awful ramifications for your future well-being.
