Hi Lucinda! :) So sorry you're not feeling well. This is a very trying time for a lot of people really, so you're not alone!
Menstruation is a cleanse, lots of toxins are getting shifted about and dumped, energy is moving downwards, the immune system is ramped up, it's quite a trying time. You gotta respect that it takes a whole heck of a lot of energy to menstruate and give your body more rest, relaxation, warmth, and calories. This is the perfect time to drink broths, have scrambled eggs (or protein shake if you can handle the rice milk) or egg-drop soup, or Kichadi.
Remember, while this feels like a step backwards it is actually a step forwards, because it's a good sign that your body is able to exit toxins. All you have to do is help it. Drinking more water, making sure you eat carefully, following the guidelines for digestive power so you don't create more toxins, bowel, liver and lymph management will go a long way to helping you keep to your comfort level as you slough off toxins.
