Coconut oil works because it is strongly anti-viral - it is nothing to do with Ph. Coconut oil destroys lipid-coated viruses on contact becuause the fatty acids in coconut oil interefere with the viruses own lipids. This is good news for you because members of the herpes family of viruses are all lipid coated.

Now I don't have herpes - but I do get cold sores (same family of viruses), and I know that coconut oil works extremely well against that virus.

Also the poster above has confirmed that her herpes was kept under control by monolaurin/luaricidin, which is basically a commercial (patented) form of one of the 3 main fatty acids in coconut oil.

So I am certain that coconut oil will have the same effect (at a much cheaper price).

Is it centrifical or expeller pressed that we want for herpes? I heard the difference between the two, and it's like centrificial doesn't have the vitamins or something and expeller has more of something else, it eludes me now.
