Yes, getting out and meeting people is a start, but you can't always be out. Writing this post was also a good start. You could make up a list of 'alternative pastimes' to do. Maybe have a bath, wash your hair, listen to some music. I used to go and garden, or clear out the cupboards. You can take up drawing or painting (I did), its a really absorbing hobby, and maybe go to a local class.
If you are not hungry, you can save the food until you are. One thing that helps is to go brush your teeth, then have a large glass of water. Then go do something else.
A friend of mine would write all her feelings down on computer, whatever entered her head. She found it really theraputic. Hope some of this helps. BW
