The shakes won't help you lose 'fat', per se, they help to remove gunk from your intestines. They don't go after fat deposits, and all kinds of deposits, the way that the lemonade does, and fasting in general does. That being said, you can lose 'weight' with the shakes - old fecal matter, mucoid plaque, etc, and when you've cleansed your intestines to that degree your stomach will be flatter, etc. And cleasning your intestines of mucoid plaque allows it to absorb nutrients from your food better, thereby hopefully making you content with less food, which might speed weight loss too, when you start eating again. What I'm trying to say in way too many words is that it couldn't hurt! Cleansing in any way, shape or form is beneficial.
The usual procedure is to start with one shake, plenty of water, then the next day, two shakes, plenty of extra water, then three shakes, plenty of water - three shakes is the usual amt people stay with, but some people have taken four or five. If at any time you become constipated, you cut back one shake and drink lots of water until you're having regular bms again.
You said: "should I drink more shakes than someone who isn't really concerned about loosing weight?"
The way for sure to lose extra weight on the cleanse is to cut back on the amt of maple syrup you use. It makes a huge difference! There are a lot of calories in that syrup, and if you're drinking 10 lemonades a day you could cut back a lot on calories by reducing the amt of syrup...not a lot, just a little. I used 6 tablespoons syrup instead of 8 in every 4 serving batch of lemonade that I made, and it made a gigantic difference. In the first five days of the cleanse, I lost 5 pounds. Then I lowered the syrup amt, and in the final 10 days of my cleanse, I lost 20
lbs. So I doubled the amt of weight that I was losing simply by lowering the syrup amt by half a tablespoon per serving!
