So, your nice post doesn't really mean squat..
Ha!
Clinton was criminal and yes the government was, and would be, repressive under the democraps.
However, there are more bleeding heart liberals and civil libertarians in the democratic party, and it would be somewhat more difficult to ram police state legislation through with all the little liberty gadflies in the dems have. The republicans are by and large content to live in a police state, and have happily traded their 'security' for the illusion of liberty.
The socialist democrats can be just as warmongering as anyone else when push comes to shove. And just as fascist if the conditions are right.
However, I just feel that the socialist democrats might leave the constitution on life support a little longer before then plug gets pulled. The fascist republicans with Ashcroft will start making the funeral arrangement immediately. Just watch.
Fascist from Wiz:
1 often capitalized : a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and white Fundamentalist Christian values above the individual and that stands for a >>>>>>>>>>centralized<<<<<<<<<<<<< (Repubs since the time of Lincoln have been centralist and Federalists -- the civil war was fought over states rights) autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, (with a messiah complex don't forget) severe economic (the bankrupting of America) and social regimentation, (just look at YOU, ha!) and forcible suppression of opposition. (in the works)
2 : a tendency toward or actual exercise of strong autocratic or dictatorial control. -- The creation of a sham war on terror, the total control of the media after the government complicity in 9/11 are only 2 aspects of how this plays out in America, my friend...
BTW, Bush 'may' have won this election anyway, (although it seems that the exit polls say different) but you will start seeing how the purged voter lists (just like Florida 2000) and inside control of the electronic voting machines contributed greatly to his victory. Most republicans in power don't much care about democracy. They are a dishonest, hypocritical bunch (say one thing, do the opposite) ... more concerned with stuffing their pockets and the pockets of their corporations... and you guys just lap it up...
I don't like the dems in many cases either but they aren't quite as self-righteous, slimy and just plain crooked as the right-wing repubs are...
