I have decided to try and set down the rules of my own personal relgion. I'm not an atheist, or agnostic, but neither do i fit into the standard idea of being religious.
Hopefully if there's anyone else out there that feels 'out of place' in their spirituality they can take something from this (and add their own ideas - all welcome).
Here are some of my ideas.
1.) God is not an author. If he were an author he would not write stupid assed books
that quite often make no sense at all. No 'holy' books are the word of god ,but they do contain some useful ideas on morality. Therefore anybody who uses the bible and other scriptures as the 'last word' is being basically stupid.
2.) God does exist, in one form or another but my understanding of him is limited because i'm human.
3.) God is benevolent, but doesnt seem to take a hand in the world. If he was benevolent as we understand it then there shouldnt be so much suffering in the world.
4.) Karma or Fate is an important part of life. If somebody wrongs you then be safe in the knowledge that they will get their just desserts. Revenge and hate only lead to your own destruction and should be avoided.
5.) Treat people as you would like to be treated.
6.) Whilst keeping to rule number five, follow your own moral compass and do what you think is right.
I wanna post this now and get some feed back. It's by no means finished but i cant concentrate when being molested by kids :)
