Yes, I find there are times I've been able to fast and times I haven't. It all depends on where my motivation lay. If I start a fast just because I feel fat, then I find I usually cave after a day or two. Whereas if I write out a list of reasons for my fast and read over it daily (or anytime I want to cheat) I am able to fast for longer.
I did a 5 day fast a few weeks ago and was able to keep most of the weight off (surprisingly). Now I am on day two of a Master Cleanse, this time for different reasons. I have a wedding to go to soon, so I admit part of it is to lose a bit more weight. But I am also fasting to feel healthy again. To get more energy, to help my skin clear up, to get rid of a virus I'm fighting and to prevent cancer. I heard that fasting can help reverse cancer cells. I need to go for a PAP test soon and I always have this fear that I'll have cervical cancer (as so many people I know have had it). So this fast I am going to focus my attention on healing anything that might be going wrong in my body. I am going to rest and be kind to myself. I will do skin brushing, meditate, light exercise, read, watch movies, maybe get a massage, and just relax.
What are your reasons for fasting? And how important are they to you? If you need a fasting buddy to check in with, to vent to, and to keep you motivated I'm here for you.
