Our eight-year old yellow lab just had a seizure. He had his first one five months ago. The first one lasted a bit longer (a matter of minutes, but not sure how many), and this time he seemed to come out of it a bit faster...within about a minute or two he knew who we were and was wagging his tail.
My husband was with him both times, and said that the first time he was completely stiff, but this time, it almost seemed dream-induced. His legs were going like when he's running in a dream. But, he was foaming at the mouth and peed at the end, so seems like a full-blown seizure.
We wondered if the first one was triggered by a bump on the head, b/c an interior door that was waiting to be hung had fallen over and may have hit him on the head on the way down (we weren't in the room). Could this cause on-going seizures?
I'm looking for any input we can get here. It is so scary to see him go through this, and even harder to imagine how he must feel.
Also, he's really hungry afterward, so we give him some food. He's also a bit hyper (maybe doesn't want to go back to sleep b/c he's afraid of hit happening again?).
Thanks for any input you can provide!
