A study shows that over an estimated 10-year period, men who have an annual prostate specific antigen (PSA) test will have a 3.6 percent chance of dying from the disease, compared to 11.3 percent in the general population. I hope this puts you at ease alittle.. I had my own scare a few years ago when my older brother who is only 11 months older than myself was diagnosed with prostate cancer and he has fully recovered the doctors caught it earlier enough. Since then I have started to take Saw Palmetto because my protaste was enlarged and now it's a normal size for a man my age. I am 50.

For pain in the prostate area, I will tell you what has always helped me:

Get a bottle of zinc tablets (50mg), and take at least 2 at a time -more if you want. This has always helped me - my pain in that area goes right away when I do this. The prostate gland is the storehouse for most of the zinc in a mans body -he has problems when it becomes depleted of zinc. The first time I did this I took about 7-8 tablets, and fell asleep -when I awoke my prostate was draining there was a lot of fluid coming out. However if I take too many tablets at once - I can feel somewhat nauseous, but it is worth it to get rid of the pain.
