I'm going to jump in here even though I am NOT I love Elton.
It's very important that you use the time spent fasting in doing several things.
First and foremost thinking about your relationship with food and why you overeat. Then you'll need to redefine what your new food choices are going to be and how you will eat coming off the fast.
Equally important is establishing a habit of exercise. There are only two ways of losing weight: diet and exercise. Fasting is not a way of getting around this. You will need both for the rest of your life in order to maintain any weight lost. Go for a walk for cardio a few times a week and try some strength exercises with either small dumbells or resistance bands to build up muscle on days you're not walking. Do what you can and do not strain yourself. This will also help keep your metabolism up and when you begin eating again the habit will be established, you should be able to rev up the time spent in this and continue to lose.
Last but not least, read motivational stories every day if you can. If you have magazines with articles of people who've lost weight, read them. There are a lot of motivational articles at SparkPeople. It's the best site I've found so far for losing weight, even though I am not following their program. Also, post in a forum where you will find support.
Hope this helps. Much success!
