Oh, I see. I found that reading the book really helped me get a good idea of what I wanted during my birth. Have you written up a birth plan yet? I think that was one of the more crucial things that I did. I wrote down in detail how I wanted things handled and I made sure my husband understood my wishes and I made him promise to comply with these. (google: birthplan and you'll find lots of ideas what to write in yours, also there have been several discussions on this forum here about them). I was able to have an all natural birth, my son never left my side the entire time I was in the hospital (they did the testings all in my room) and I was able to leave the same day. Just be very persistant with your wishes and talk to the nurses.
I know how hard it is to get your partner into it, just keep trying, they listen more than you think they are.
