Wow. That's sobering. I would never have gotten the Mirena if I had read that before!

Thank you for this. Since I am in the process of having my doctor run a ton of tests I will be showing her this since she says my symptoms are not from the mirena. I see her on thursday and I am so done with this thing regardless of what she says or believes!!!

Look under the box ! It says it got these from the prescribing pamphlet !! It says click her to look at it and I did and this is whats under the side effects. Read the VERY BOTTOM LINE !!!!!

There are several more common side effects of MIRENA®
• Cramps, dizziness, or faintness while MIRENA® is being inserted. This is
common. Sometimes, the cramping is severe.
• Missed menstrual periods. About 2 out of 10 of women stop having periods
after 1 year of MIRENA® use. The periods come back when MIRENA® is
removed. If you do not have a period for 6 weeks during MIRENA® use, contact
your health care provider.
• Changes in bleeding. You may have bleeding and spotting between menstrual
periods, especially during the first 3 to 6 months. Sometimes the bleeding is
heavier than usual at first. However, the bleeding usually becomes lighter than
usual and may be irregular. Call your health care provider if the bleeding remains
heavier than usual or if the bleeding becomes heavy after it has been light for a while.
• Cyst on the ovary. About 10% (1 out of 10) of women using MIRENA® will have a
cyst on the ovary. These cysts usually disappear on their own in a month or two.
However, cysts can cause pain and sometimes cysts will need surgery.

HOW CAN I ASK THEM WHEN THEY SAY THEY AREN'T SIDE EFFECTS !!!!

What amazes me is some of these side effects are listed on the Mirena website and the information that comes with it. And on this list that comes with Mirena, it states to see your health care provider for a list of other side effects but how many of us have talked to our doctors who tell us the Mirena cannot cause side effects? When I was on birth control pills, my doctors/midwives always asked if I had been experiencing side effects. Why are doctors not asking this question with Mirena users? I honestly did not realize I was experience side effects until 3 years after having it. And when I did tell my new/current ob/gyn she looked at me with dispelief and stated that some of what I was feeling could not be caused by the Mirena. I have since had it removed and many of my side effects have completely disappeared and the ones that are still coming and going (while my body slowly gets rid of the hormones from it) do not occur as long or as strong as when the Mirena was in . How many other women have not put 2 and 2 together yet and are suffering because of this? It angers me that many doctors do not listen to us or believe us but the information is already out there that this device causes side effects.
Sorry for the rant but this just angers me.

So why do the doctors act like they do not know any thing about the side effects. Doctors are also poorly educated about the Mirena. When I explained to my doctor about all the side effects she thought I was crazy. What is the worse thing that can happen..Um..maybe death. That is one of the side effects, that is not a side effect..It is DEATH!!!!
