Well, the only thing I can say is that while one yeast microbe is microscopic, they do colonize, and then, yes, you can see them. Think about it. If you are female, and you get a vaginal yeast infection, you can sure see the yeast clumps, right? And, if people complain of yeast infection on their skin, they see the white patches, and if you have thrush all over your tongue, you can see that as well. You doc seems to be more knowledgeable than most about yeast, which is great, but I think he is wrong on this one point.
I have no idea abou the banana issue, tho. Some say no bananas on candida diet, others say banana is the only fruit you can eat on candida diet. Personally, I have not had issues with bananas, but on most food issues, we are all different and have to sleuth out our own individual intolerances. It can be quite challenging, but worth it.
