Hi Leah,
I have been using Iodoral since end of July. I have
used
Lugol's (off and on) since beginning of April, and
prior to that, used Electrodine (since mid-December '06).
I have to say that Iodoral is a LOT easier on the old
esophagus and mouth. I also have been having strange tongue
issues and heartburn related to Lugol's. I initially put drops
in water, which got old very fast (same reason as it did for
you), so I switched to putting it into lemonade, but then it
occurred to me that the antioxidants in the citrus fruit
might be cancelling out the
Iodine so I would not be getting
quite the amount of
Iodine as I thought I was getting. I next
tried putting
Lugol's into 00 gel caps, and that worked OK
at first, but lately I've been getting really bad burning
and belching, so I stopped. I tried it again yesterday after
skipping a couple of days, and same thing--a lot of discomfort.
Have also gotten blisters underneath tongue and areas on the
side and tip of the tongue which, while not blisters, do hurt.
So...I have decided just to use Iodoral for now. Am doing 5 tablets
a day, but I may be raising that. I also use 5 drops of Magnascent
iodine twice daily, in water. It is mostly alcohol, and while not
a pleasant taste, it's not nearly as bad as
Lugol's and doesn't
give me heartburn. I've also read here on the forum that the
Iodoral may penetrate deeper into the digestive tract, so that
too may make it a better choice for you. I have also tried Lugol's
in iced herbal tea (it's best to stay away from green tea, on
account of the fluoride content) and that works OK too, but
there is always the gastric discomfort to deal with later.
Some of us seem to be more sensitive in that area than others.
