hidden tonsiliths
I have known about tonsiliths for quite a while but have never seen any in my throat.
however, recently I was using a small flashlight to see if my throat was congested
and I caught sight of one mostly hidden by a flap of skin.
further inspection revealed the same on the other side of my throat only it was
completely hidden by skin.
When I removed the one that I could kinda see, It had a powerful smell.
I am thinking that everytime I swallowed something a little bit of this
would break off and create a stink problem. plus it seemed to be a little
runny, so even if I didn't eat it would slowly spread in my mouth.
The taste of it was identical to the previously unexplained bad taste
I would have in my mouth even after brushing and rinsing.
I haven't dealt with the other side yet as I will need a dental mirror
to see the area, it's hidden that much!
by the way; gargling does not seem to do anything to remove them.
they have to be removed by using the blunt end of a toothbrush or
in my case I ended up using a 'gum stimulator'.
(it's about the same length of a toothbrush, but with a pointy rubber
end...I nipped the very end so it didn't feel so sharp)
one tonsilith was so far back and low down that I had to rig up a
vacuum to suck it out, lol.
I have experienced a lessening of the constant bad taste, although I
think I have to do the other side to really get results.
anyway, I doubt this is a cureall but it will help me cope in the long
run.
just posting in case some of you find it useful.
ciao!
