while we're on the subject...I don't subscribe to the exoteric or fundamentalist schtick, that excerpt was more esoteric...but it seems the purpose behind exoteric teachings was to meet people where they are & raise their consciousness, not to deliberately confuse. Just like Jesus spoke in parables to the public, but "expounded on all things" to his disciples. Exoteric vs. esoteric.
I know what you are talking about have had experiences that confirm that reality. It's ok if people don't believe me or any writings I come across. Sometimes their value is in being able to stretch the mind so that one can become more receptive to the direct inner experience. The problem with sharing the experiences is that it immediately puts them in the box of mental abstraction, words can only degrade what you actually experienced, and people will never understand or truly appreciate it anyway. Btw, I used to be an agnostic and probably would continue to be one had I not had experiences that made that perspective illogical. Anyway, appreciate the comments & I'm glad to hear from someone who's had similiar experiences : )
