I have a son with severe eczema and I also had it as a child. I also have basil cell cancers cut off me all the time. I dont think it is eczema.

Refereing to basil cell cancers, they only grow across the skin slowly so dont worry. My brother came to me with the same problem after being told it was eczema by two doctors. I told him it was a basil cell and to book in to the skin cancer clinic. Low and behold it was and he just got another one cut off.

I have lots of them and constantly get them cut off. It would be good to rule it out anyway so you can move forward in finding out what it is. My basils are pink, scaly itchy and they flare up than can settle down for weeks only to get scaly and itchy again. I suggest a biopsy as well. If it is a BCC it is a simple local and cut off.
