Hey - the reason you got heart pain using enzymes was probably because they had betaine hydrochoride in them - which is basically what makes (incites) your stomach acid...therefore you clearly had enough stomach acid already and thereby having the enzymes was too much. You can get enzymes without the betaine hydrochoride in them if you look around.
Also - the starches you are avoiding are great for avoiding in terms of them being white, pasta, sugars, etc - but don't feel you have to avoid brown carbs - i.e. grains (BROWN rice, not white! Quinoa, millet) all those are good for you and great for digestion - and will help stools, etc!
