Himalayan salt lamps

So has anyone ever used a himalayan salt lamp? Are they really effective? I bought one today and pugged it in. It looked cool but I was a bit dubious about its claim to filter the air and release ions in the air. They claim its the same type you experience after a storm.Any experiences/insight? The only info I found was by site that sell them. Tweet
