No bodily part is 'extra'-- and having something removed will always have repercussions. If the gallbladder needed removing, likely it was loaded with stones--a sure sign the liver needs attention.

There are "side-effects" (in medical parlance) to removing
the gallbladder. You will want to be extra-kind to your liver, for one thing.
