Re: newcomer, please read

Now then fella. I've been dealing with this in the UK for around two years. My EC wasn't caused by biting though and to be honest if I knew the exact cause it would be a great help in dealing with it.

I too have seen specialists who have fobbed me off.

At the moment I'm currently trying Lactoferrin supplements as the moisturiser I've been using containing lactoferrin has helped make this more manageable. Generally speaking I peel my lips when possible then apply this a few times a day:

My lips peel mainly in the bottom square in the middle of my top lip and a thin line across both lips where the border is between inside and outside of the mouth. Although I am very conscious of it my friends honestly hadn't noticed till I told them.

As someones already said there are links between this and stress so try not to worry about them too much. I know my condition started when I was massively stressed and there are reports on-line of people improving the condition with anti-depressants.

I'm sure when someone finds a cure they'll post it on here but it has gone a bit quiet on here recently. There are many theories many of which surround inflammation. You'll have to search through.

Chin up fella. You can live a normal life through this. I'm embarking on getting a lass for the first time since getting this condition at the moment. I've had a few sexual encounters since but I've always been too paranoid to get close to someone. She's alright aswell!

So to sum up. Try and find a moisturiser that works well in managing your condition, peel the lips when they require it and try and get on with life as normal. I've done stuff like not gone out and missed out on a few things due to this condition in the last couple of years. I wish I'd have just gone, "f*** it. My lips don't look great but I can still go out and enjoy myself."
