dog injured his cornea

ive noticed my dog's eye has been closed and discharging for about a wk now and he's got a white coat around the injured eye, after close examination i saw that his cornea was pushed down/inward slightly....i dont know how that might have happened but i just dismissed his discharge as his regular condition, but his one has been closed and discharged more frequently than normal....so my question is is this damaging to his eye to the point of blindness...he's a 4yr old shih tzu...his eye is red where the injured eye is...so what can i do to treat him with this...i know i have a vet appt tomorrow

any input suggestions would be helpful

thank you
