Inulin seems to be less likely to feed pathogens than short chain FOS, but does not feed as many strains of beneficial bacteria.

So which is better, inulin or other FOS? I'm not sure. I suggest perhaps taking equal amounts of both. Perhaps 2.5g of each, or more if tolerated. Because FOS feeds more species of bacteria it may cause more gas, and this may be a deciding factor.

As far as non inulin FOS, Nutraflora looks like an interesting product.
