Kidneys relation to the Adrenals?

Hver, Is there any truth to Stress placed on the Kidneys through something such as the excessive use of creatine or protein could also negatively impact the adrenals? Due to their sitting directly atop the Kidneys I wasn't sure if there was any direct relationship between the two. There are some opinions on CZ that there is and I wanted your take.

Also as far as kidney function goes a friend of my families has recently begun to experience kidney failure. I was curious if this is generally due to other channels of detoxification being blocked such as constipation in the colon? What would be the main symptoms a person would start experiencing if their kidneys were beginning to mal-function for lack of a better word?

The other year I had severe deep pain right around where my kidneys should be located in my mid back area and it had me doubled over in pain for several minutes but then abruptly stopped, it happened a couple other times and then stopped & hasn't happened since. I figured it might be my kidneys because it was isolated to those 2 spots alone, although this was also during the time when I was suffering from my worse fatigue & adrenal issues, so if its possible to have pain in the adrenals that could have been it.
