Re: Exfoliative Cheilitis
Hi,
Thanks for contributing. I have to surmise that most if not all of the people here do not have green pussing going on. That may be an unrelated coincidence or a different extenuating factor that we don't share. This person's analogy to cornflakes just is talking about the texture and form of the peeling, not necessarily the color.
Your colors suggest to me bacterial infection. Yeast infections produce a whitish discharge. It's quite possible that both untreated internal yeast overgrowth and bacteria can produce similar chronic hyperkeratinization of the lips; though
Antibiotics may remedy the bacterial infection, you might face problems with losing your healthy flora that regulate the naturally co-existing Candida strains, which could still exacerbate your peeling problem.
Anybody who hasn't tested for Candida I still strongly recommend that you do, I realize for some it's cost-prohibitive. Even if treating it through dieting and antifungals may not cure EC off the bat, the long-term consequences are not pretty. I'm a week into my second attempt now.
Peace.
