thanks. I know about Epsom Salts and generally yes, magnesium or vitamin C or Vitamin E all help to control this. However when I take liver / bile stimulating herbs it exacerbates my constipation. I don't see a connection with acid and alkaline foods to do with constipation. Too much protein can cause constipation in me and too much Fibre just causes me severe abdominal cramps, regardless of how much water I drink. No connection have I found with taking alkaline forming and acid forming foods. In fact I find taking acid forming foods help me more than the opposite as alkaline foods tend to be vegetarian based and that exacerbates my calcium level causing me worse fatigue.
Burdock root is also high in calcium. So it could just be the hypercalcemia being increased from the burdock. The tannins in the burdock root could be causing the darker stools you mentioned earlier.
