I believe that EC is a relatively modern disease that developed from the stress and superficiality of the industrial revolution which caused people to bite at their lips from all the financial and social tension along with the expectations that are brought up upon us and from ourselves to be picturesque in this Kafkaesque society where individuals strives for perfection, wealth, and popularity. Where people are obsessed with youth, beauty, and perfection brought on by the kitsch adaptation of society which causes us to pick and prod at our imperfections to fit our idealism. Tweet
