Pale stool color depends on Where the 'stone' is stuck.
Think of the bile ducts in your liver like a road system. There are smaller side roads which feed into the larger main roads which feed into the Interstate. If a car gets stopped on one of the side roads, no traffic can get through that road, but the other roads still work. The larger the 'road' the worse the traffic jam. Likewise, if a 'stone' gets stuck in one of the bile ductules, bile gets backed up in that area and the combination causes pain. However, bile can still flow through the other ductules supplying enough to the digestive system that the stools don't pale.
