Are you saying your Naturopath isn't supportive of ANY cleansing, or not supportive of fasting or extreme cleanses? You do need to cleanse, but there are numerous other ways besides fasting or the Master Cleanse!
I'd also suggest reading the *entire* site at the The Doctor Within (also mentioned in the above link), most especially the chapters "Journey to the Center of Your Colon," "The Last Resort," and then finally "The New West Diet."
First step in cleansing is to educate yourself on what good health and good food *really* mean. A major advance can be made very gently and very simply by reading labels and removing all the overly processed gunk and chemicals from your diet, eating a lot more "real" natural food, drinking pure fresh water, and taking daily walks in the sunshine.
For starters, drop all "white" foods: enriched flour, sugar, regular table salt , all dairy (except *homemade* yogurt and kefir.)
Avoid *anything* with soy (except miso soup) including oils.
No canola oil, or hydrogenated or polyunsaturated anything.
No coffee! (except in enemas) [green or red tea may be ok, talk to your ND.]
No deep fried *anything.*
NO aspartame/saccharine/fake sweeteners or high fructose corn syrup.
Nothing that takes a chemist to pronounce or understand.
A lot of the above gunk, especially in various combinations, can be binding and increase elimination problems. Cutting them out entirely may help ease the constipation a little.
Increase your daily water intake to *at least* 1/2 your body weight in ounces of water. [A 150 pound person should drink 75 ounces of water daily.] For every ounce of anything else you drink, drink an additional ounce of water. Just make sure you're getting enough sea-salt to keep from getting hyponatremia. Getting your bowels working properly again is discussed in detail on The Doctor Within site with additional information and links at Bowel Cleanse Information page here - just stay away from the fasting ones.
Work with your naturopath on which herbs and supplements will work best to support your body as you start clearing all the chemicals out. Maybe do kinesology to see which ones are what *your* body needs right now. A short starter list of good general supportive and/or cleansing herbs to discuss with your ND are:
Add Gold Coin Grass or Chinese Bitters or Chanca Peidra (use only one at a time, not all during the same period) for helping break down liver stones . [I routinely use cilantro, ginger, and turmeric when cooking or as "sprinkle seasoning" on salads, etc.)
