As a woman with a mind, I always struggled when I was a christian, with the "woman, be silent and subserviant" message in the bible. This in indeed the opposite of empowerment. As spud has said, if the bible is without error, and every word is "inspired" as exactly what god said, why do the men interpret these verses to suit their own interests?? Why do the apologists say "well God really meant this....." One cannot pick and choose which verses are literal and which are not. One cannot have it both ways. The bible does NOT reflect the equality of women.
