Re: Remember folks...
Adaptogens have their own issues as well. Many of the raw materials are sourced from countries like China, India and Egypt where quality control is substandard at best.
These adaptogens are often subjected to massive amounts of pesticide spraying and the soils they are grown in are often contaminated with heavy metals.
Not exactly health food...
Again this is very misleading.
First of all many of the adaptogenic herbs are wildcrafted, not cultivated. So they are not exposed to a lot of the sprays and other contaminants cultivated plants are exposed to.
Secondly there is really no difference between the contamination of herbs in the US as opposed to any other part of the world. The soils in the US are also full of heavy metals, especially lead. And crops are sprayed here as well as irrigated with contaminated water.
But all of this is why we obtain certificates of analysis for all the herbs we use including domestic and imported herbs. In other words the herbs are tested for contaminants such as heavy metals, herbicides, pesticides, bacteria and mold counts. All the herbs whether domestic or imported must meet the same strict standards.
